Non-University Scholarships
These undergraduate scholarships are administered by Michigan Tech, but the recipients are chosen by the scholarship sponsors. Additional application procedures are required for these awards. Most scholarships are renewable provided the recipient meets the renewal criteria.
Michigan Merit Award Program
Criteria : merit based; Michigan residents; met or exceeded state standards in mathematics, reading, science, and writing on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) high school tests.
Curriculum : any degree curriculum
Value : $2500 divided between two years
Michigan Competitive Scholarships
Criteria : merit and need based; Michigan residents; obtained satisfactory scores on the American College Test (ACT)
Curriculum : any degree curriculum
Value : variable up to the amount of need or $1300, whichever is less
Other : FAFSA must be received at the federal processor by March 1
ROTC (Army and Air Force) Scholarships
Criteria : merit based; U.S. citizens
Curriculum : any baccalaureate curriculum and acceptance into ROTC program
Value : variable up to full-time tuition and lab fees, plus a book allowance and a monthly subsistence allowance
Other : students requesting a four-year scholarship should code the Army or Air Force as a recipient of their ACT and/or SAT scores; students requesting a two- or three-year scholarship may apply after arrival on campus. Obtain application from the Michigan Tech ROTC departments.
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarships
Criteria : merit based; U.S. citizens; member of current year's high school graduating class; nominated by high school to state higher education agency
Curriculum : any degree curriculum
Value : Dependent on funding; $1500 is the award maximum
Other : obtain information from high school counselor
