Scholarships available for Non-Michigan Residents
* National Scholars Program (effective for new students enrolling Fall 2006) - Replaces Academic Excellence Award
Criteria : merit-based; non-Michigan resident of the US or a resident of Canada.
New first-year students: competitively awarded based on an index that considers your high school academic record including ACT or SAT scores, cumulative GPA, and class rank (if available).
These average statistics represent last year's award profile. Please note, class rank (if available) is also used when determining scholarship awards.

* Military Family Education Award
Criteria : New undergraduate students who, at the time they apply to Michigan Tech, are considered nonresident students and are children under the age of 24 or the spouse of an active duty member of a Uniformed Service (as defined by Title 10 US Code).
Curriculum : any degree curriculum.
Value : Equal to the difference between nonresident and resident tuition.

* Alumni Legacy Award
Criteria : new accepted undergraduates; non-Michigan residents; must be children or grandchildren of Michigan Tech alumni; submit your application for admission indicating names of parents or grandparents who are alumni.
Curriculum : any degree curriculum.
Value : equal to the difference between nonresident and resident tuition for a maximum of ten semesters of undergraduate study.

Michigan Technological University Merit Scholarships
Criteria : merit and need based; U.S. citizens; members of the current year's high schools graduating class; National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test finalists; Michigan Tech must be listed as first choice university with National Merit Corporation.
Curriculum : any baccalaureate curriculum.
Value : variable from $1,000 to $2,000 depending on financial need.
Athletic Grants
Criteria : athletic excellence; students chosen to participate in Michigan Tech intercollegiate athletics (basketball, football, and ice hockey for men; basketball, volleyball, tennis, cross country, nordic skiing, and track & field for women) by the Michigan Tech coaches.
Curriculum : any baccalaureate curriculum.
Value : variable up to full-time tuition, fees, room and board, and book allowance.
Career Interest Undergraduate Scholarship Opportunities
Criteria : interest in the specified industry.
Curriculum : specifically listed for each scholarship.
Value : variable amounts.
Other : Students interested in Railroad Engineering may apply for scholarships.
Diversity Incentive Awards
Criteria : merit and/or need based; Recipients must be U.S. citizens and members of the under-represented groups as defined by the Michigan Tech Scholarship Committee.
Curriculum : any baccalaureate curriculum or associate degree program
Value : variable ($1,000 minimum to maximum of full tuition plus fees) for up to four years (8 Semesters) for students working on a bachelor's degree, and for a two-year period (4 semesters) for those students working on an associates degree.
Other : renewable for second, third, and fourth year students who maintain a cumulative grade point average of (2.5 for those students with full awards; 2.0 for those students with lesser awards) as of the end of spring semester, acceptable social behavior, and continuous full-time undergraduate enrollment.

Scholarships Sponsored by Individuals and Organizations
Criteria : variable (merit based, need based, merit/need based). All students automatically considered for the awards for which they are eligible. However, the Caterpillar, DTE Energy, Dow Corning, M.J. Electric, Michigan Tech Employees Children, and Michigan Tech's AFSCME Employees Scholarships require proof of parent employment with one of these companies. Contact the Financial Aid Office for details.
